The Norway Poplar is a very fast-growing hybrid deciduous tree (Populus × euramericana) bred from the eastern cottonwood and the black poplar
• Size: Grows 40 to 60 feet tall with a narrow, upright crown spanning 20 to 35 feet wide.
• Foliage: Features dark green leaves (2 to 5 inches long) that turn yellow in the autumn.
• Growth Rate: Extremely fast, making it popular for rapid landscape cover.
• Common Uses: Frequently planted in rows to create windbreaks, visual privacy screens, and quick shelterbelts.
• Water Needs: Requires adequate moisture or a high water table; it does not tolerate severe drought on dry upland sites.
• Wildlife: Young bark, twigs, and leaves are a frequent food source for local wildlife including deer, rabbits, mice, and beavers.
